RW Julian
The Chinese forgers have been busy again. Perhaps sales of the earlier fakes have met met some resistance so fresh dates are now available, all from Moscow and using the same mold with the date changed. 1744: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=200195444652 1756: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=200195443749 1743: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=200195442768 The inherent danger in eBay allowing this fraud to continue is illustrated by the following two lots, both from a Greek seller who has sold these Chinese fakes in the past. The following sale ended on January 23 and an uninformed buyer paid $365 for this 1749 fake: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=260204645418 The same seller is offering another 1749 at present: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=250210048547 This seller also offers genuine coins with grossly inflated rarities attached. squirrel
One would think ebay would care more about being a ready outlet for fakes. The inernet is overflowing with fake Rolex watches from China, and even "high quality" replicas (sold as such) from Europe selling in the hundreds..... yet you will never see one on ebay. I assume the Luxury Watch Industry has a viscous legal team. We are simple buyers just crying foul.

grivna1726
This seller also offers genuine coins with grossly inflated rarities attached. According to the seller, the 1749 Moscow rouble, cast at the Chinese "mint" and frequently offered on ebay, is "RRRRRRR++".
banivechi
This one looks better. Can be genuine? http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...A:IT&ih=
RW Julian
This one looks better. Can be genuine?http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...A:IT&ih=015 It is not one of the present Chinese fakes as the obverse die is not the same. It appears to be genuine though this is usually difficult to determine from a photograph. RWJ
RW Julian
1743: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=200195442768 I neglected to add that this particular fake is rather special in that it is an overdate, 1743/2.
