akdrv
WASHINGTON -- The House voted to give a new look to the Sacagawea dollar in hopes of reviving flagging interest in the seven-year-old golden coin. The legislation, approved by voice vote Tuesday, would make annual changes to the reverse side of the coin to commemorate the achievements of other Native Americans and Indian tribes. The image of Sacagawea, the young Shoshone who assisted Lewis and Clark on their expedition to the Pacific Northwest 200 years ago, would remain on the heads side of the coin. http://www.dailymail.com/story/Life/200706...awea-coin-look/
TreasureGirl
First of all, DANGIT, more dollars to collect. Second of all: for the first five months of this year the U.S. Mint had produced only 7.5 million, all for collectors Did these 7.5 million go only into proof and mint sets? Is that what they mean by "all for collectors"? Does this mean completing my set of Sac's is going to get progressively more expensive as the years progress from 2001-(whenever the new legislation starts)? NumisMattic2200
Interesting....why do they have to revive it? if they chose to let it die, it would've increased the future collectors' value of those already in possession. Interesting to note, they are not going to change the 'heads' side, which has a cute looking girl on it...
