This piece is a 1/4 ore of Queen Christina of Sweden, she was queen from 1632-1654, and abdicated the throne and became a nun and subsequently moved to Rome.

This is actually a pretty nice example of this coin, these are usually not quite so nice, but it does have fairly old cleaning and has retoned about 75%. This piece is worth approximately €50.

This piece is an ore coin from the reign of Charles XII, or Karl XII(1697-1718), he was King of Sweden that fought so valiantly against Petr I(1689-1725) of Russia during the Great Northern War of 1700-1720. This is a regular issue coin as opposed to the emergency token coinage, and is rather unusual because of that fact. I would give a rough estimate of value on this piece at approximately €15.00

This would make an interesting addition to a Peter I collection, considering the historical importance of the Great Northern War to Peter's reign. :ninja:

Actually I myself have several coins from the Swedish side, under Karl XII, but only one Petrine coin, a denga from 1714.

Great stuff!

Someday, I would like to get a small Swedish plate for my collection. Plate money is one of the most interesting series in world coinage.

I really want a Russian plate, I could have bought one in Russia, but would have never gotten it out of the country :ninja:

Chances are it would not have been real. There are lots of fakes around. ;)

Real Russian plate money is now priced to the moon. Even a fake recently sold for about $375 hammer price, then the juice & VAT on top of that --- for a FORGERY!! :ninja:
