belg_jos
A friend of mine recently found this coin. It looks very much like the Indonesian coins, in the time of colonisation by The Netherlands. However, the legends and date are not matching up. The style is very similar though. Comparing with this one: Netherland East Indies km305 1/4 Gulden (1854-1901) Source: Worldcoingallery 1404 in the Islamic calendar would be about 1985 in our Christian calendar. Does anyone know the historical background on this coin/token? Thanks in advance, Jos
BigCanadianM
1404 in the Islamic calendar would be about 1985 in our Christian calendar. I was going to say! As to your question, I don't have the slightest clue
DawsonsLV
Seems to be token or playmoney. Gave to read Arab inscription to my fellow. Hes says it means approximately the same as Latin on the top of the obverse.
belg_jos
Thanks! So no real solution yet. Anyone else ready to give it a go? Jos
ccg
I'm going to say it's a [privately made] token/medallion as well. Maybe something that's thrown/given out at weddings?
