Ian
Here's something well out of the ordinary from my normal interests. It's a silver medallion that was (apparently) issued to guests at the coronation of the Shah of Iran and his Empress in 1967. The medallion carries the AH date 1346, which is 1927. Presumably this is the date which he actually ascended to the `Peacock Throne' but there was no ceremony at that time (?) The medallion is set in a jewellery type bezel with a brooch mounting above. edix2001
That appears to be Mohammad Reza Shah and Farah, who got booted out of Iran in the late 1970s. He took over the throne from his father in 1941.
Scottishmoney
Iran used a different calendar than the regular Hijara calendar used in other Islamic countries, to come up with the date, you just add 621(year of Mohammed's ascension) to the numeric date to come up with the Christian date, so when you add 1346+621 you come up with voila = 1967. Aha!! Now that would explain it. Thanks for that gem David. Ian
