Got my first Puerto Rico quarter. (Philly mint)
-
Here is another I just got in the mail on Friday:
Jeff, I could only wish to acquire such nice notes, very cool.
-
I got a proof 1992 nickel out of one of the drawers at work, not exactly change from a purchase, but regardless a neat little find. Makes you curious who broke open the proof set though...
-
You are correct sir, I am indeed interested in seeing this.

Well, I finally got one of the Must Have's of US Banknotes today: The Black Eagle $1 Silver Certificate. I'm pretty happy with it. It was graded UNC 62 in it's holder by a TPG. I've left it in the holder for now - don' tknow if I'll take it out or not.
Hah, dang. I think you got one better than mine!
-
A really ugly 1957 silver certificate $1 note from work. It goes into the wallet and will likely end up as someones tip...hehe.
I haven't found much lately, been kinda slow at work, but the occasional silver dime still strolls through my hands.

I just wanted to give this a bump to the front as well as add a note regarding new Chinese counterfeits. Currently EVERY and I mean EVERY SINGLE COIN ever minted by the US mint as a regular issue (This includes silver eagles) is currently being counterfeited. This starts with the 1792 issues and includes every regular coin from the half cent to the $20 gold coins. I am going to use this post as a reference for the US issued counterfeit coins, but the task is monumental, there is no way for me to possibly list every coin and find die markers on each item. This is where you, my fellow CPer's come in.
I implore everyone on here to email me any US issue counterfeit (decent sized/resolution) image of counterfeit US coins, new or old, at Shadowfox23@hotmail.com. I cannot do this alone, but I will try my best to compile a worthwhile image bank and description list for each counterfeit US coin discovered.
I have an image folder of over 200 images so far and I will be updating them on here as I complete their analysis over the summer. But as said, there are many more, and I encourage your help!
Thanks!

Great pics and even better coins! You and Tom postd some lovely IHC's lately. Now I kinda want to get an orange UNC of my own!
The good part about the red or red/brown Indian heads from the late 1800's early 1900's is that most can be had in unc for less than $40, some much less. A high end unc might break the wallet a bit however, hehe.
-
Wow, I actually got something for once!
First off is a nice low unc r/b 1907 Indian head cent.
Second is an Au or borderline unc 1859 Indian head cent. The reverse has metal that was pulled over the rim during minting and the left side of the wreath is weakly struck. Otherwise this is a really nice coin.

Nice Jeff, the 1805 makes me drool, love the draped bust coinage. I still need to upgrade my half, but uh...wedding and all, lol.
-
I agree, a nice one of those is hard to find at a good price! Mine, which is not nearly as nice, was hard to find!
-
radar sorta as well! Nice note Jeff.

Well, it's actually very well executed from the design, the lettering seems a little off, but that's really because the coin is of reduced diameter (the size of a $10 gold piece with double thickness). I've seen the original in the Smithsonian, and this compares extremely well to that coin. Given the size, with the naked eye it seems like some areas are less detailed, but when you look with a loope, they are all there and then some. As a purist, my biggest complaint is the addition of the motto on the reverse, but again it makes this a one-year type!
So do you consider it a true St. Gaudens, or a knock-off for the government to make more money like the last bullion series?
-
So Jeff, compared to the real thing, what do you think of it? You are our resident expert afterall.
-
A wedding!
Hah, yes. My fiancée Nicole and I will be getting hitched on 7/11...you know, like the mini-mart.
We've been together for over 4 years and finally chose to take the leap.
-
I haven't gotten much of anything in a long time. A wedding in July and school have torn my funds right out from under me. It's okay though, the coins will still be there when I get money again, haha...I hope.
I did get something today, regardless of my lack of cash. I got a roll of the District of Columbia quarters with Duke Ellington squattin at the piano. I must say, I hate this design. Seriously, this "fine art" committee has absolutely no aesthetic taste. Horrid. On that note, I will be keeping one of these stupid things for my album and the rest are going return-to-sender via the grocery store and vending machines.
I hope to have something worthwhile to update soon, cya!

Here is a 1630 Saxony taler to keep it inching forward.
Alright, only 44 more years and I can add one of his ancestors!
-
....followed closely with a silver Patagon dated 1633 from Brabant in the Spanish Netherlands
Very nice, I've always liked these.
-
Cool. Once i can get good pictures i'll post a pic of each of mine.
I started from the 10 cent bin of non-us coins at my local dealer. You are doing a bit better than I was during my novice years. Funny part is, I've been collecting for over 18 years and I still hit up that same 10 cent bin from time to time, haha!

Welcome to CoinPeople Jawandz. Thanks for the info, although I doubt we will consecutively make it back to 12CE, it's nice to see an example of something that old maintained dates at all.
-
I'm out until 1586 and 1580, then I'm out out. I have some ancients and byzantine coinage, but it's all undated. For that matter, what IS the first consecutively dated coinage...?
-
Yay, I'm useful for the first time in years!
Hey....wait....!
1660 I think from Poland...Groszy? I have no clue really...about the size of a dime.
-
Where do you work? A bank?
Nope, grocery store.
-
