Art get back here and bid higher than me. I can't bid against myself!
Terribly sorry. I wasn't trying to overbid your bid with the same bid. If you know what I mean.

I don't need the coins, but 20 cents!
Perhaps for old times sake, I'll just have to "pump it up".
22 cents

Great sailing ship. The mirroring is obvious and certainly qualifies as deep.

I just got my Large Cent Attribution Guide for 1840-1857 in today's mail. It's commonly called the Grellman book. Very neat book.
Here's a link to one on ebay.

Really nice half cents everyone. I have to disagree with the statement that they're reasonably priced. When I look at them - I hit my forehead and say holy mackrel.
I was looking to do them for my typeset to start and WOW! it's pretty expensive. But I'll get over it.

I agree that the ANA policy looks awfully good. You don't have to have appraisals and all that stuff. Not sure what they do if you have a claim. It's pretty reasonably priced.
I used to have a rider on my homeowner's for my coins and cameras. Then the prices went up. Then they wanted the coins in the bank.......
So - I got rid of most of the coins. Got rid of most of the cameras.

Nice coins in this auction. Nothing that I need and I feel bad running the prices up on other folks.
OK I don't really feel all that bad about it.

Here's what it looked like the last time I saw it.
Just for the record: I stepped in the Short Snorter project when it was already on it's way, so I had to find a note light enough to see the writing on and big enough to hold all the signatures in a very short time. I happened to have a 100 gulden note handy, a very very very circulated and folded one.I thought: Oh what the heck, let's use that one. Gives the others the opportunity to see one in real life as well.
I didn't put my name on it yet everybody assumed I put it in.....

That's a really nice collection of Large Cents. Your photos are terrific. You've really done a lot of learning since your early stuff. Thanks for sharing.

Terrific notes and a bunch of red xxx's

There are so many things to look for. Off centers, doubling, planchett errors, I guess you need to check each one. Hey! Have fun while you're at it.

I gave it an MS60. I can't see any wear but it's looks pretty bag beat.

Terrific notes. They're beautiful.

Review posted in the Coin Forum thread.
I've heard a lot of good about this book. I've also seen some reasonably priced copies. I think amazon was a good source. Unfortunately it's way down on my purchase list.

I know it's foggy, but I got it as an extra in a large purchase. I absolutely LOVE the eagle on this coin. It's one of the very few Olympic Commems I can handle.
If you give that guy a bath in acetone and then de-ionized water, you'll get rid of the fog. Just don't rub it - the acetone will leave scratches. Dip it.

Very nice coin and info. So the coin is silver. Is it toned in the pic or is it lighting - I would have guessed bronze/copper.
The similarity with the ducat is neat. I'd seen the ducat before but didn't put the relationship together until I got to the end of your post.

That was fast. I was stuck on E as well. I was thinking mid 1800s cent or half-cent .

I have never seen an item similar to what you have described. Can you post a picture for us. I'm sure most of us would like to get a look at it.
-
Interesting coin. What is the year and minting process used? Is it a hand press?

Hello and welcome to the new CoinPeople. Tell us a little about yourself and what you collect.

Hey, can I post my large cent collection too?
Of course. The more the merrier. Besides your pics are always better.

BCPI 2H05
in British Coin Forums
Posted
I'll be kicking off the submission threads for BCPI 2H05 this weekend. I'd like to have at least 20 entries in each catagory. I know that sounds like a lot of entries but we can do it.
I've been thinking about the catagories we should use. I'd really like some suggestions.
I was considering:
Hammered Coins
Milled Coins pre-xxxx
Copper
Silver
Gold
Other
Non-circulation Coins
HELP?????????????
