Last for tonight. Here's a Whopping Crane that also lives at the park.

Here's an American Bald Eagle who lives at the park. He was injured and is unable to fly. A beautiful animal.

Here's a baby manatee from Homosassa State Park. They're ugly, but gentle. In fact they're so ugly that they're really cute.

Sunday January 2,2011
I hope that everyone had a very Merry Christmas and that all CoinPeople everywhere have a wonderful 2011. It's going to be an exciting year for Numismatists. On the US front the 5 oz. National Parks "quarters" will be up for sale in the near future, at least the 2010 versions. With silver at the current levels they are way too steep for me and I frankly have little or no interest in putting together a set.
We went on a nice holiday trip to Homosassa Springs. The park was wonderful, as usual, and the kids had a great time. I took a bunch of pictures and will post some as soon as I get everything processed and uploaded. The nature trail part of the park has a bunch of Florida endangered animals. They are usually the injured critters that cannot be returned to the wild. I have some nice pics of the eagles and such. The manatees weren't at the park in any great number. It was way cold and so they were hanging around up-river near the power plant. The discharge water keeps them nice and warm.
I bid on a few Jeffersons on ebay and won two. They're common date proofs that I need for my set. Nothing spectacular but the photos look like they're nice coins.
I just purchased a Nikon F3HP with a motor drive. Finished an initial test and everything with it looks good. I'll stick a picture in from that later on. For anyone interested in photography, film cameras are really low in price and many high quality cameras are available. Go FILM!!!
Frannie got the whole kitchen appliance suite replaced. New stove, fridge, microwave, dishwasher. They're really neat. She had the store people do all the installs and everything was done and working in one afternoon. Would have taken me much longer. The fridge has that filtered water & ice in the door thingy. Very nice feature. We got one of those Keurig coffee machines for Christmas from Rocky's girlfriend. It is one neat machine. Make one cup of excellent coffee at time. Nice and hot with no "scalded" taste from sitting too long.
The Mint is offering the 2011 Annual sets starting next week. I'm trying to decide if I should order as they come out or wait until all are available and save the extra shipping fees. I think I'll wait.
I'll be back later today with some of the pics. I have a nice baby manatee shot that I have to get uploaded.

A good ale is a just reward for a hard day of work.
-
Super finds. I never find anything interesting anymore.
-
Please take pics of the manatees!
So did your Pf 69 set come as that grade or did you assemble it?
Purchased it already graded and slabbed. Costs less than the grading fees alone would be.

Wonderful. Those halfs are really beautiful.
-
Great coins.

Here's a Roosie that I just added. It's a '67 SMS MS66. Very nice coin.

General
I'm going to be giving up my job at the Shack. I've been off from work since September 14. I was getting some pains in my lower back and right leg. Felt like a muscle pull. Got up one morning and basically had a terrible time trying to walk. Dr. visits, xrays, mri's, go past...."...need surgery on the spine. It's got an alignment problem and is pinching the nerves." Three weeks before surgeon can see me. So I'm going on pain pills and not walking much. Decided the heck with this carp. So went to a Chiropractor. Painful but very quick positive results. Skipped surgeon. Too many bad outcome possibilities. So after a month of treatments can walk around ok. Painful once in a while but it goes away and stays at a level that I can handle. Ladders and stairs are bad choices. Heavy lifting not good. So I'm just moving along with the exercises and such. It's getting better each and every day. BUT I can take a wrong step or such and wham! Not a good thing at The Shack.
Collection
I've added a few coins over the past month or so. Nothing of major impact. I did get a full set of Territory Quarters in both the clad and silver versions -- PCGS PR69DCAM. I like them and it's a very short set. So now I have a complete Registry Set.
I just ordered three Roosevelt dimes and two Jefferson nickels. I'll post some pics when they arrive.
The US Mint is going to release the 2011 Annual Sets early in the year. I'll be getting at least one silver proof set and one clad proof set and of course, a Mint Set. Beyond that I don't really have much of plan for 2011, yet. I am going to learn to photograph my coins, especially the ones in the slabs. It would be good to have a solid record of them and I'd like to get my Registry Sets updated with solid photos.
I got a new Nikon digital camera and I've also gotten the extension tubes that should allow me to get really tight coin shots. I've played with it a bit but the results have been terrible. I need to work out my lighting and such.
Christmas
It's not that exciting anymore. Rocky's 20 and so he's much more into money as a gift. Not much in the way of fun toys to buy and play with. The grandkids are growing rapidly and they'll be at their houses for Christmas. They're here now and will come back right after Christmas. We're going to take them on a few day trip to see the Manatees and some other wildlife before New Years.
Well enough blogging for now. Good night all.

Nice finds Doc. Haven't found anything in town with coins on it.
-
Great pennies. The portraits on both are really solid.
-
Nice stuff Vern. You've got quite a nice collection.
-
Very interesting. I had never given this any thought. As far as I know there are none in my town but I'll look around a bit. We have quite a few buildings that once served as banks and now have other uses.
-
Very nice Vern.
-
Very nice.
-
Great note. The lace maker is superb.
-
Another nice train.
-
Internet image looks off. The surety strip holograms look dull vs. reflective.
-
Terrific coins.
-
Great additions.
-
Nice finds. Jeffersons always make a good find.
-
Great $2.

Thanks for looking and your kind comments. With film cameras the older cameras are getting quite expensive. Things from the mid-70s up to 2004 are pretty reasonable - in the Nikon line anyway. I think Canon is about the same. Let me know if you want something Nikon and I'll keep an eye out for you.
