thanks, would never have found it by the looks of the designs of the period, wasn't expecting quite that old.

i know it is of an early style pre 1650's but can't find anything with that design.

you know more then i do, so explain how you got to that conclusion for your guesses. because I thought the 2 Durhams were differant Monarches and the york penny was Henry IV.i
did get the scottish one correct, but wasn't 100% and now i have narrowed that down, thanks.

looks like someones rainy day money from 1859 perhaps
very nice 1858 penny there, you would have to check the date as there are many overdates in that year

found in my dealers massive load of pennies he used to have got it for peanuts (or mere 10 pence)
Satin lists it as XXR (Less than 20) - it is a satin 19
Gouby (BP 1860 T) rates it as R8 (11-50)
the key thing here is the mising : after D
