hard to tell exactly, I think it is york, no idea whether that mark on the left of the hair should be there for this issue.

I bought this a few weeks back, apparantly found on the isle of man as viking currency, now i know vikings hade trade netwroks going all the way to the arab world and arabic silver was sought after by them, making it a fascinating piece but i want to identify it propely

happens often, but worn coins have something, a past people have held them, spent them, and i usualy do only buy them when i think it is worth more.

and i buy this stuff ff ebay, thats the main place to get these russians, as very little comes in at my dealers, picked up 2 in 3 years there (paris 50 kopecks, my 1855 2 kopecks)

yea couldn't find much about that type, still dont find many republic coins, so a cheap one is always nice
and yes i know about the rouble being fairly common, the simple fact is that coin ended within a day of the one i won, so surprised that one got seen and not the one i won.

Bombay was used for Australia as well in some cases, perhaps it was easier to get coins to egypt from there at that period

got most of these cheaply.
£3.50 the 2, the Lenin Rouble was going for £3 alone and that was excluding the postage price (which i included in my price here)

this was where the T from the BRIIANNIA errors went then, must have been swapped for a T either that or the dotting the T's and crossing the I's
