  1. As an FYI and if anyone may be interested, I have a consignment lot of 80 schützenfest medals listed on my website. The stated prices are firm per consignor and there are no pictures so please reference any book you may have available. Martin and Richter numbers will be posted.
  2. Here is a picture of some various pin backs and other schützenfest memorabilia.
  3. Your pin-back is a souvenir of the 1939 Federal shooting festival (schützenfest) held in Zürich.
  4. 1865 Schaffhausen Pokal Federal Shoot Johann Jakob Jezler, July 27 1796 - February 11, 1868 Silver pokal with inner gold wash 217 mm 290 g
  5. Thanks Art. Yes, the 1852 Zürich medal is superb. Very rare and in great condition considering its age and amount of field on both obverse and reverse.
  6. 1899 Bienne, canton Bern R238a / M153 First Federal Shoot of Flobert Silver 40 mm Engraver: R Lanz-Girod, Biel / L. Furet, Geneve R
  7. 1852 Zürich, canton Zürich R1722a / M1013 First William Tell Free Shoot Silver 48 mm Engraver: H. H. RRR, very difficult to find in such condition.
  8. 1948 Albisgütli, canton Zürich R1900a Albisgütli Jubilee Shoot 1898-1948 Silver 33 mm Engraver: Fritz Landry / Huguenin, Le Locle RR
  9. 1948 Albisgütli, canton Zürich R1899a Albisgütli Jubilee Shoot 1898-1948 Silver plated broze 33 mm Engraver: Fritz Landry / Huguenin, Le Locle R
  10. Another pokal, this one was awarded during the 1887 Geneve Federal Schützenfest -
  11. 1905 Fribourg, canton Fribourg R420a / M233 Fribourg Cantonal Shoot Silver 33 mm Mintage: 858 pieces Engraver: Holy Freres, St. Imier Common
  12. 1872 Zurich Thaler/Taler 5 Francs. EF reverse with a few marks in the fields but since this is a pinback I would expect some marks on the "front" side. The obverse is EF+ with nice patina. I purchased this taler because it was a pinback. I don't see talers made into pinbacks often and this one is of the period. The case holds the taler by encasing it within a silver circular frame. Very well made without marking or harming the taler itself.
  13. Yes, I am very happy to have found it. My Dad has handled a couple over the years and owns one himself.
  14. 1938 Lenzburg, Canton Aargau Cantonal Shoot, Hundred year anniversary of the young shooters schützenfest in Treffen, 1838. R53a, M41 Bronze 30mm RR Although this medal is specified RR by Richter, it is very difficult to acquire and I (we) have only seen a couple offered in my 30 years of collecting, this also includes my Father's 50 years of collecting. These bronze pieces are quite rare indeed.
  15. Same pokal as above; St. Gallen 1904 but without the top. However this pokal was awarded without the top. The pokal is essentially as awarded. It has its original presentation box with Shoot and date Inside the box there is a card with a doily inside so the shooter could display the cup on it if so desired, the doily shows William Tell. An interesting note is that the exterior of the card actually shows both pokal variations proving that without top and with top were both awarded. This cup, without the top has more gilt highlights. .800 silver 300mm 536grams Inside of cup is gilt Gilt highlighs on portions of cup exterior Rare
  16. A very beautiful and elaborate shützenfest pokal. This pokal was awarded at the 1904 St. Gallen Federal shoot held between July 16-28. .800 silver 475mm 764grams Inside of cup is gilt Gilt highlighs on portions of cup exterior Rare
  17. The previous shooting awards have been pokal. This picture is an example of a becher. The becher on the left is from the Zurich 1911 shoot and the one on the right is from the St. Gallen shoot of 1904. Both are .800 silver. Bechers are often not as intricately engraved as pokals but are quite collectible in their own right. The one on the left is hand hammered as indicated by the dimpled appearance. The second picture has a ruler for size reference. Many bechers are gilded on the inside, these two are not.
  18. 1863 Federal schützenfest Chaux de Fonds Silver Schürmann & Company, Frankfurt 235mm 281g Very rare
  19. 1895 Federal Schützenfest in Winterthur, Canton Zürich .800 Silver (gold inner cup wash) with cup top, cup has gold gilt highlights Jezler, Schaffhausen / H. W. (Heidorn & Wendt, Geneve) 275mm 301g
  20. Pokal awarded in the 1847 Glarus Federal Schützenfest Silver with inner gold wash Design by Rehfuss Georg-Adam 1784-1858 Height of 187mm 213g Very Rare
  21. Although this is off topic to a degree, I thought some of you would have some interest in seeing a few examples of Schützenfest pokals (shooting festival cups). There are also smaller examples called bechers which I have examples of also. This is from the 1910 Federal Shoot in Bern Made by Jezler of Schaffhausen .800 Silver; inner cup with gold wash 342 mm height Note: the bear and man on top of the cup lid are solid .800 silver.
