  1. Just got an email distribution from Sincona, was hoping to see more coins, and perhaps find out who this collection belonged to. IMHO it was Brezhnev! The document has a foreword from Baron Eduard Alexandrowitsch von Falz-Fein. It is not clear how he is associated with Sincona or this collection, is it his?
  2. Congratulations with an interesting find, and good luck in the future! BTW, it would be interesting to see the flip side of these coins.
  3. The coin on the top right is from Brandenburg, so is bottom middle, both read Georg Wilhelm. The coins with a happy fellow with a big nose (top/bottom left and top middle), are from Sigismund III of Poland. The last coin I would guess is one of the Ferdinands of the Holy Roman Empire.
  4. Look through this list, you might find some info: http://www.omnicoin.com/country/Poland?page=1&sort=year
  5. It's true that you can resell this coin for a significant profit, and it would make sense to bid higher if that's the goal. But if you're buying it for yourself then all the usual budgetary restraints make it difficult to go higher.
  6. Hope is what keeps us going! But seriously, that auction was exciting! It looked very promising until about 5 minutes before the end, and even in the last minute there was a glimmer of hope... until all the snipes came through.
  7. Let's wait for one-kuna, all I can say is that the taller looks real. If you found them yourself, and you are pretty sure that they are real, I think you should start looking for a way of getting them to a reputable auction. Deals like that are not usually handled through the internet.
  8. I'm keeping my money as well, against my wishes though
  9. Sigi did you see this one? http://www.ebay.com/itm/251059537611
  10. Why would that be easier? Is it because you can see that it is not made of chocolate?
  11. BTW, welcome to the coin people brothers!
  12. Don't know about this one, it has a crack. If you get it accepted to an established auction house, you will find out the price at the end of the auction I would guess close to $2000.
  13. Get it to a major auction, and if they take it it will probably sell for something like $2000 or $3000.
  14. Same coin was discussed in this thread: http://www.coinpeopl...__1#entry518574
  15. The Efimoks are much rarer and more valuable than the Tallers that they were struck on. This does provide a great incentive to forgers to buy a coin for a few hundred dollars, stamp it and try to collect a few thousand dollars.
  16. Another Efimok (Taller with a Russian counterstamp). Don't know if the Taller is real but I don't like the long years on the counterstamped horse.
  17. Don't know anything about these. Very impressed with prices realized. It really looks to me that collectors were scared by the conditions of the Imperial coinage market, and ran away to modern Russia, and probably now, as a result, the prices are exploding on that front.
  18. Well, it looks like a Efimok, or a silver European Taller with a Russian counterstamp which let it circulate in Russia in the late 1600's. Is it a real Efimok? Personally I doubt it, but that's just an opinion. The images are blurry and it's hard to see any detail, and also I have very little experience with such coins.
  19. Yes, the one Teller pulled out cause he thought it was fake... I actually traded that coin for the one above
  20. Thanks Sigi! A pleasant color and a good strike, an nice improvement over my previous coin.
  21. I have scooted over to the ANA Denver coin show today. There wasn't much going on in terms of Russian coins, then again I got there on the last day of the show and lots of booths were already packing up I did get to meet our forum member Steve D'Ippolito, and chatted with a few dealers, which was quite fun! I even got to brag about my Beard Token... Overall an interesting and educational experience. I did pick up one coin 10 kopeeks 1837 (37/36 overdate) EM - FX:
