Is anyone interested in a very nice, crisp old 10 Pound note in a condition I would say is close to uncirculated. I am no expert on banknotes so I can't grade perfectly but this looks very nice. You can't beat the old British paper money!..
Sign: J.J. Page 1970-1975.
I don't know what these sell for , will quote book values from 12th Edition of "World Paper Money": VF=$35.00 UNC=$80.00
Please PM me if any interest.

No..heh, I thought this was a recent post and looked at the coins with dates etc...with no images - it always drives me nuts hehe..

Bang on value for one of those I'd say, pay no more..
Mass was originally 56.7 grammes, originally the exact amount of copper with the equivalent worth Twopence Sterling.

Good, why no pics?

I am jealous of your informative library
The varieties book looks especially useful - though, are most of those varieties worth much more than normal?
Fascinating material any roads, I've no doubt.

The ones with holes in them are for tools, apparently.

Hmm that one seems a lot nicer but for the piercing - I wonder what mine's worth anyway...might ask my pal Howard Simmons.

Does anyone have information on how this Vickers token may have been used? Age?
Vickers was a company started in about 1838 in Sheffield as a steel foundry (Sheffield was probably the world's most famous city for steel and is nicknamed "The steel city") and become one of the world's greatest manufacturers of munitions and weaponry.

The Straits Settlments can be quite interesting, so here's a good link with info
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straits_Settlements
The Straits Settlements were a group of British territories located in Southeast Asia. Originally established in 1826 as part of the territories controlled by the British East India Company, the Straits Settlements came under direct British control as a crown colony on April 1, 1867. The colony was dissolved as part of the British reorganisation of its South-East Asian dependencies following the end of the Second World War.The Straits Settlements consisted of the individual settlements of Malacca, Penang (also known as Prince of Wales Island), and Singapore, as well as (from 1907) Labuan. With the exception of Singapore, these territories now form a part of Malaysia.

The establishment of the Straits Settlements followed the Anglo-Dutch Treaty of 1824 between the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, by which the Malay archipelago was divided into a British zone in the north and a Dutch zone in the south. This resulted the exchange of the British settlement of Bencoolen (on Sumatra) for the Dutch colony of Malacca and undisputed control of Singapore. Its capital was moved from Penang to Singapore in 1832.

300?!? Nice! :th_ThumbsUp:
Got a few today, namely a crown that I've been wanting for a while in half-decent condition!
Also got two booklets, "Viking Coins of the Danelaw and of Dublin" and "The Norman Conquest and the English Coinage", both by Michael Dolley.
Well I'm jealous of just about everything you have been showing off

He's not the only one to have one of those 'fake Krause' catalogues. Mine must be similar and it's called "World Coins" - produced by Krause but just to make a few more dollars I presume...
