Not today, but very recently he brought me these:

This game is getting hard, LOL.. if only I had a QEI Sixpence from 1590!..
-
What does "HIE BERN HIE EINGENOSSEN" translate to?
-
two for the price of one this time.
A 1593/2 overstruck dated silver taler from the land of Vlad the Impailer.
Excellent coin and very interesting!
I note, the name "BATHORY" on your coins - if there was one person almost just as evil as Vlad it would have been Erszebet Bathory http://www.digitalhemp.com/articles/elizabethbathory.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_B%C3%A1thory
She sort of gave birth to the name 'blood bath' for her way of sacrificing virgins and bathing in their blood to keep her looking young..these were not very nice people, it seems.

Could do with some help on this token - does anyone know anything about this one?
Almost Halfpenny size, C19 token "Walter J. Smith (12) / S.A. Daniell | Maker | 52 | St. Paul's Square | Birmingham"
It look like S.A. Daniell was just the maker of the token??
-
Just thought I'd post mine, know anything about varieties of this coin?
Mine doesn't have the W.W. on truncation..

The French are more elegant (much better word) than the English, based on my isolated rocky mountain upbringing and being a baby-boomer... sorry for the stereotyping...
Hmm so you should be, plenty of un-elegant femmes over here in sunny UKland!..
Plenty of smelly Frenchmen over in La France too ;)

Why not print out this thread for them to read, or let them read it on screen?
Because even though it be right there before their eyne, ignore it they do-eth yet still!....

I asked my parents for acetone and they recommended to me - NAIL POLISH REMOVER!!
Needless to say, they looked at me angrily when I told them it just won't do. I am stupid, according to my oldies...
Yep I ruined a copper later that day.

Three words for you.

Don't go to Borneo without a chastity belt

That's a great find. I never find anything in those machines.
Why did you look? heehee...
What strange customs you have
-
Those will come in time. In the meantime, check out my thread on the Pixtilos Celtic series (I do need to rephotograph them, but I'm still working out how I want to do it).
Not sure where to go, but will try and find the thread..

LOL Brad, why are the French feminine in your macho opinion
-
I like that medal - that's the guy who turned up on the battlefield of Waterloo and gave Napoleon a nasty fright...
-
You mentioned Celtic! Why don't you post some of your Celts! They are my favourite branch so far...

Constantine the Great was “matched by none in grace and beauty of form, or in tallness, and so surpassing his contemporaries in personal strength that he struck terror into them.” - Eusebius.
Brought Christianity into acceptance, - my opinions on this fellow may have differed from the above
-
Haha - French picking a chicken...even worse, the British chose a Pussy-cat and a horse with a bit of rock on its head which doesn't even exist

That RAT is a Beaver, the Canadian National Symbol shok.gif hysterical.gif
My sincerest apologies
It is a cool beaver.
Hmm okay so the hatchet is a tomahawk and the thing that looks like a pipe turned out to be a peace pipe (calumet de la paix), I wasn't too far off...
-
It certainly is an interesting medal, why the rat and lamp and the other symbols on the obverse?
Just love the reverse design with the bare trees in front of the building and are we viewing this from across a river?
It has been very artistically rendered, and the toning at top makes it look like a stormy sky with rain starting to come down..

I wouldn't trust him ... ooh I got some of those recently..
