  1. Continuing with my new found knowledg of how to embed coin images. This one is a 6 pence from the same set mentioned above, 1947 last year of the imperial coinage before India obtained independence. Darker on the obverse but slpashing light proof on reverse
  2. And thanks to Bill's help, here are several more examples from my small set of Straits: 1907 Dollar Smaller mintage 1882 Heaton mint 20 cents Edward VII 1910 20 cents
  3. Thank you Bill, the two example provided were enough. Also probably helped that I grew around computers ever since I was under 5 which was a long time ago
  4. Bill, I tried but it tell me it can't post dynamic link
  5. I guess I've used up all of my allocation of the upload space so I'll have to resort to posting links. Here is a nice (but not perfect) 1920 50 cents. This 2 year series is rather common but somehow 1921 is more frequent than the 1920 specimen. http://www.omnicoin.com/coin_view_enlarge.aspx?id=958879
  6. Unusually toned but nice 1947 crown in proof, darker cheeck is not a scratch, just same color toning as in the fields. 1947 is much more affordable year, there were 5,600 proof crowns minted selebrating George VI Royal visit to the Dominion.
  7. As I just got 2 incomplete proof sets, one 47 and another 49 I think it is time to share some of these coins that have most attracted me for the last few years. Beside being part of British Africa that I am so interested in, they represent a fine art of coining. Let's start with 1949 half penny, mintage 800 of proof sets that year, they did not mint gold until 1952 anniversary sets. And I also just noticed that it also has a re-cut top of the 4 in the year, it appears on both half penny specimens I have.
  8. I'll start off another branch as I will scan and/or post some of my Straits. I've slowed down on them a bit but try to get a coin once in a while. Here is 1884 bronze quarter cent. Very fine on my books.
  9. Believe it or not but this one in just extra fine costs a lot more than the previous Actually quite typical of the earlier South African bronze circulation - 1926 penny. As for the condition - I bought it as extra fine but it is not quite EF by the close inspection although reverse is truly very very nice.
  10. I got another one today. It is not perfect by any means but nice toning, special select (proof-like).
  11. Well, I can't but add some of my own This one has not one but two ships on one coin. 1963 Israel 5 lirot (pounds) one of the early commemorative; Sylvia Haffner desribes the obverse as smokestack of a [then] modern steamer against a background of Haifa and Mount Carmel (which to tell you the truth it does nor resemble) and reverse as an ancient vessel modeled after the incused drawing found on the wall of Hasmonean era tomb in Jerusalem. Oh, and it is a proof variety with MEM mark at the bottom of obverse
  12. Thank you, thank you I try and with the coming holidays maybe I'll advance a bit with scanning my collection. I still got about 85% to scan....
  13. Added a nice 1902 penny, mintage is larger then some of the later issues but nice and not a frequent issue http://www.omnicoin.com/coin_view_enlarge.aspx?id=955187 And I got the 1969 proof penny and half there too, pretty nice.
  14. Don't forget the South African 1952 5 shillings issued for 300'th anniversary of Capetown - nice boat with Table Mountain on the background I think http://www.omnicoin.com/coin_view_enlarge.aspx?id=937709
  15. Uf-f, I've just finished scanning and posting everything in my small Jamaica collection worth showing. Just 14 coins inclusing 1887, 1888 and 1919C farthings, 1895, 1899, 1907 and 1909 half pennies, 1906, two 1909, 1914, 1916H and 1926 pennies. And 1966 crown. Link in the footer and here too http://www.omnicoin.com/?collection=sandy3075, just sort by the country or you get all of my small but still growing collection. I am thinking about making coin scans available on DVD once I'll hit the 2,500 coins which will fill one DVD nicely. Maybe a good study material for everyone interested but not being able to join local coin collecting groups, mening exclusively Internet collectors. But it will most likely take me a year to get that many scanned, especially given the business travel I'll have this year.
  16. I've started scanning some of my better Southern Rhodesia, after that will for others worth the scans. Don't think anyone will be interested to see rows and rows of South Africal proof coins I have. Well, maybe the 1932 or my Rhodesian proof set (when I finally get it from the auction). Just boasting . Look here http://www.omnicoin.com/?collection=sandy3075
  17. I like the 1926 shilling. Althogh stained it is a nive looking very fine. I've been looking out at the ebay recently for BWA and East Africa ones. There are some very nice and not very expensive samples passing by from time to time. just a matter of timing. I just got a 1916 1/10d what appears to be either XF or UNC sample. There was a spot on it hope it is not too bad. And cheap, it was under $4. One day I may post some of mine too...
