  1. A couple of additions - 1952 farthing and a half penny
  2. I'll just keep going here with mixed South Africa coinage/ Here is a very nice 1956 shilling. they were minted in abundance and probably are, not scare, but this nice is not often seen on eBay.
  3. I've got it a couple of years from a friend of mine who is a coin dealer, but put it away and have not though of scanning it until now. This is the scarcest cent of the British East Africa. Not sure of the reason as its nominal mintage was 6,000,000 pieces, but this was clearly indicated by the prices even at the time when Remick sent his 3'rd (and last) edition to print in 1971. Usually the mint mark is under the CENT.
  4. A couple of new additions I just got from my favorite British dealer - both a very dark and both are extra fine, shilling is on a better side of it. This is a 1935 six pence and a 1936 shilling
  5. Here is an interesting Victoria's early East Africa, while still protectorate. Nice pice dated 1898.
  6. Got a couple of late Elizabeth II coins - pretty much at bullion price and decided they are nice enough to post here. Half crown and florin
  7. New and interesting information in this thread. I do have a plenty of NCLT including many of those minted by FM, but almost none of the late 1984-85, need to look them up. As mentioned both the high quality of strike - well packaged some of them survive until today in great presentation form and are simply terrific to look at - and in their "exclusivity". It is good to know that you have sometihng that was minted in like 300 copied, not very different from having a French Colonial essai, Portuguese prova or even much closer to me 1959 South Africa 5 shillings. The main difference - Caribbean countries do not have millions of population that will have thousands or tens of thousands of coin collectors to drive the prices up as happens with scarcer mintage coins of all other major countries.
  8. I've got another 1910B Straits Settlements 5 cents and while trying to decide if I should replace the one I have in my collection with the new one I noticed a die variety on the date so I decided to keep both - brighter, probably a good very fine to about extra fine and a toned one
  9. 1911 coronation souvenir medal from Natal (you know I am African buff )
  10. Here is a 1947 half penny from one of the same partual sets
  11. I like South African coins and thus came into this Colony of Natal 1902 Coronation medal; not sure if it is silver or alloy, medal is 29-30 mm in diameter and 11.6 gr weight; Nice, I would say extra fine; do not know if the hole was planned from the beginning or punched later on. I know i posted it earlier under the Commonwealth sub-section but I think it is appropriate here as well. And will add a couple more commemorative medals I should get shortly.
  12. I added weight and size above the best I could measure. Indeed, this 37 medal is what is called "official" issue by the Royal Mint and I have seen larger medals as well albeit substantially more expensive, in the $100 range or more. I'll also rescan this one to show real luster it has.
  13. Dig up half a dozen different farthings of George V, will add one here to liven up the thread and add the rest to Omni
  14. Got another coronation medallion a few days ago and while it is much smaller then I expected , this brings a total of them to 4 and may be worth posting. Also unlike coins I do not have a good reference and suggestions and infromation about these coronation medals are welcome. Here is s small (about florin size) Victoria jubilee medal 1902 Edward VII and Alexandra coronation medal 1911 George V and Mary 1937 George VI and Elizabeth (Queen Mother), 1 & 1/4" (32 mm) diameter, 15.3 gr weight
  15. George VI first year of issue, Heaton mint
  16. Here is another nice one - 1951 uncirculated penny.
  17. Very very common 1956 KN 1 cent but nice bright color
  18. 1921 10 cents, nice but not as good as scans would suggest
  19. And a better looking almost extra fine KM-9, 1911 50 cents.
  20. Well it is time to add a few. This one came a few weeks ago from my regular seller in the UK. Would be nice if not for the few very small edge bruisings yet I did not have it before so happy I am . KM-4, earliiest Edward VII coinage of the colony. Mintage 200,000
  21. Yesterday I've got half a dozen Southern Rhodesia coins that have somewhat improved my existing specimen. I amd posting a couple of teasers here.
  22. 1947 farthing, obverse is much better than the scan ut too bright for the scanner lights and reflecting back
  23. Here is the continuation of the same run from the 1947 set, 3 pence, also heavily toned
