  1. http://www.staraya-moneta.ru/forum/messages/forum51/topic182334/message1913744/#message1913744 I opened a topic on SM . I wouldn't have high hopes, but we'll see...
  2. I searched for "жетон 1/2 КН Ч and РАК 1 Ч" and no suitable results found. Not sure what that may be and if it is genuine. Wild guesses: "Ch" may stand for "Chast'" (Russian for "part") or for "Chaj" (Russian for "tea"). What abbreviations KN and RAK(C) stand for, have no idea...
  3. You presumed correctly. Modern fake made to fool collectors. from: http://numistika.com/counter cath 1.html This is "articles" section on this forum, please ask similar questions in the general section next time.
  4. I also like copper overstrikes, and there isn't a lot of coppers here. Still, what was provided and other coins in this topic from Lenox and others are an eye-treat.
  5. Found in a different topic, that I hosted a while ago. Ex-Tolstoy collection coin, now in Hermitage. Very special (SPB mint trial strike).
  6. Thank you all for positive comments! These are the most interesting coins to see... Petty, I didn't see any 2 / 5 kopecks of Elezabeth (my favs), but these coppers are wonderful to see!
  7. Very interesting! Is it probe or novodel? Not listed in GM catalog... unusual sharp "7"... Looks more like a novodel to me. Thank you for sharing! It's petty we can not see the other side...
  8. Now, can I ask you guys, perhaps, some silly questions, as I am not into gold. What is this eagle munching on? Why is it also wearing tags on its legs? And what is the significance of L.L. under it (one can also se D.L. under the gold eagle or single L. under St.Andrew)? Later edit 22/12/17: The eagle has 4 flags of St. Andrew: 2 it holds in the mouth and 2 are attached to its legs...
  9. 1 rouble in silver, CCCP (USSR) or as also known - Soviet Russia, 1924, in average condition.
  10. Just as interesting as your pictures from Smithsonian! That was my reaction, when I saw your pictures of some GM collection coins from 2003... This topics rings in unison with this one: http://coins.su/forum/topic/111960-lyubitelskie-i-drugie-fotografii-redkih-monet-s-vystavok-ili-znamenityh-kollektsii/ where your pictures open the topic.
