  1. Thank you, Josh. It doesn't matter much - :pardon: maybe better luck next time.

    How are you doing?

    Best, Sigi

No new coins for me in a LONG time..... not too much since my now 4 year old son was born!

My "discretionary" budget is directed elsewhere. But I still like to tune in here regularly, and watch the auctions.

  2. Nobody could be familiar with Rolf's coins - including himself. He just had too many and no system. He could not find what he thought to have somewhere and when searching was surprised with what he found. The country home of his was overloaded with Russian coins, many back in the bags in which they had been received, others loose on or under or inside or between hundreds of auction catalogs, reference books or in trays or in boxes with literally no space left for his wife other than the kitchen. Last time I saw him he cleared the floor in front of his large strongbox in order to open its door. When it went open a little avalanche fell out of it.

His widow Ingrid seemed relieved to finally gain back the space beyond her kitchen.

I had known my friend Rolf for 40 years. He was kind of difficult but he was absolutely honest and his knowledge was second to none. He had just one eye left from a 1944 wartime injury but that eye was sharp!!!

Although constantly suffering pain he never lost his good humor - we laughed a lot together.

    I miss him.

    Sigi

What an interesting character! Thank you for sharing your experience with Rolf. Again, the stories behind these coins is what make them special in more ways than one.

  3. I can see the denomination banner for the Elizabeth 2K on image 1, upper right.

I can see the word "chetirey" (sorry no russian keys on my netbook) on image 2, diagonally from 9 oclock to 12 oclock, so perhaps the fragment you are seeing is where the "2" for the date is, or just below, maybe a piece of flag?

I dont see any baroque elements, or 5K elements, but that doesnt mean they arent under there somewhere.

    nice coin.

  4.

nice coins but not "no reserve" as this usually means low start bid and coin will sell regardless of low bids or could go high with many bidders who want the coin.

Your Russian coins are "buy it now" which are fixed price. Nice and safe way for the seller to get a good price, but boring and not a challenge for buyers to get a bargain and have fun with bids.

  5. No, Josh. As I am only after old coins, which may not be taken out of the country :pardon: I did not search coins.

On the flea market was only very recent stuff, fakes of old rubles or scrap.

Russian girls - what I saw ranged from normal to breath taking :swoon: .....

old coins and new girls would be my preference too..... the opposite, not so much.

  6. lovely t-shirt. Most likely she is not there on prostitution charges judging by the slogan... :bgreen:

thats the all girl band that was arrested during an "unscheduled" performance in a church. They usually perform with bags over their heads. for some reason, they were protesting Putin.
