Apart from myself, members of this forum are "mature and professional collectors / dealers".
hey now... watch who you are calling mature and professional! I am far from either!

Extant.. could we see the other side of your very nice 1721 ruble?

The Eagle on the later 5 Kopeck KM coppers of Catherine II is the most beautiful, in my opinion.

Its nice to know im not alone in my insanity. I thought it was just me, but a google web search reveals there is quite a bit of displeasure with the * being removed unilaterally.

I have a question for the ebay users here....
have you noticed the * (wildcard ) search function has been shut down by ebay, on purpose? Has anyone found a work around?
-
Bobh, did you find an acceptable piece of glass? I want to give Axial lighting a try. How do you support the glass?
Im using a Nikon D7000 on a tripod pointed down, with my coins sitting on a table next to the tripod.

those plastic coin coffins are annoying.. I like to touch and smell my coins!
crack 'er open! Set it free!

From all the coins on eBay I believe that FlyingBostonian (I think that's his name) has coins in the most impressive conditions for sale. Wher does he get them?
His (or Her?) Photography skills are quite impressive, in addition to some fine coins. I have had some luck there... but not alot.

these pieces with H - were made in coin shop in Russia for its local and school museums; it was discussed long time ago on all forums and in journal of RNS; looks like some found or purchased stock of it
I believe they were sold/distributed in a set. All coins in the set have the same "H" countermark.
Also, listed in Brekke supplement section on Fakes.

I think I remember it. As I recall you outbid me on eBay for it in 2007 or 2008
I won another 1840 CM around that time but never got it.
The one I have is from Aalborg IV.
Wow... good memory, Alex. I honestly cant remember where I bought that 3K, but ebay sounds right.

This my one and only...a '40

just comparing the ebay coin with your linked image, they are very close, but there are some differences. The horizontal lines above the date are different. Also the horizontal lines below 'PARA" dont match. The letters seem ok. The crown and the shields seem crude, but that could be due to wear? I think checking with other examples is needed, and of course, seeing the coin in person.

Very nice coin for type sold for 3800.00 SHF at Sincona lot 310.

Congratulations, белка!
Are all of these coins on OmniCoin now?
thanks bobh. the one i posted is on omnicoin now. its the only one i have. By type, i didnt mean date runs.. just the regular types...

Alex, on your list, are the unlisted lots unsold?
-
Didn't see that one
Congrats!
Yeah.... you guys are a bad (good?) influence on me... im trying shake the coin addiction!

just picked this one up on ebay... for only 30 USD i figure i could complete my elizabeth copper types... not bad imho, considering its the first coin ive bought in a LONG time
-
I agree with Kuna

Ive kept one eye open for one of this type for some time now, and indeed are hard to find. They do crop up on the better auctions, such as World Wide, but usually go for prices such as Sigi's quote of Wolmar estimates. Did you try Basok's site? He usually has some uncommon copper listed.

This topic is murder on my eyesight!!!

this is a fun series to collect... there are some rare years and variants, and even some overstruck examples (on Peter II Kopek)
-
I like it! very nice ugly copper coin!
and I mean ugly in a good way, because overstruck coins have so much wonderful character, no two alike!
congrats, not easy to find these days in any condition.

The same coin was posted on http://coins.lave.ru...a17c5ba0c99420c
Local experts agree that this use to be an early MM 2 kopeeks and has an altered date and mint mark.
the artificial retoning doesnt help it's case, either!
