Howdy Tiff - I can't help you myself with this as I don't have the specific books for it. But a very nice gentleman I know, by the name of Jurek, is something of an expert on these coins. Just go to his web site LINK - scroll down to the Contact Us link and send him an email.

Tell him Doug sent ya :ninja:

I sent the e-mail, got a great reply, and also, I think we have a new member. ;)

It is Half groschen. Struck in Vilna (present capital now and then of

Lithuania) Date: 1555. weight around 1.7 gm. Small silver coin (20mm in

diameter)  1/120 of a thaler in those days. Very fine with big minus

condition ( worth around $15-18 in this condition). It is not a rare piece

in this condition. Mint under Grand Duke of Lithuania Sigismund Augustus II

1544-1572 who was then also a king of Poland. (1546-1572) Poland and

Lithuania was in personal union therefore you see on averse arms of Poland

Eagle and on reverse arms of Lithuania- rider with hammered-weapon.

I hope that helps.

Lithuania is one of my specialties.
