Tell him Doug sent ya I sent the e-mail, got a great reply, and also, I think we have a new member. It is Half groschen. Struck in Vilna (present capital now and then ofLithuania) Date: 1555. weight around 1.7 gm. Small silver coin (20mm in diameter) 1/120 of a thaler in those days. Very fine with big minus condition ( worth around $15-18 in this condition). It is not a rare piece in this condition. Mint under Grand Duke of Lithuania Sigismund Augustus II 1544-1572 who was then also a king of Poland. (1546-1572) Poland and Lithuania was in personal union therefore you see on averse arms of Poland Eagle and on reverse arms of Lithuania- rider with hammered-weapon. I hope that helps. Lithuania is one of my specialties.
