aurora
This is my first medal of Napoleon's Egyptian campaign. I think this is original, not later restrike. There are no marks on the edge. And what is possible to say about untidy edge, maybe it was a problems with stamping equipment ? Friends, opinions are interesting. thedeadpoint
Very cool! Is that Napoleon on the shoulders of the giant on the reverse?
aurora
Friends thanks. But my question was about the peculiarities of stamping. On the early medals, sometimes I have see such points on the edge. Who can explain it ? Is it normal for these medals?
bagerap
It's an original issue, I've seen this edge frequently. Possibly a planchet that is very, very slightly over size.

Thanks for the explanation. How do you think this point affects the value of the item or for this period it does not matter?
bagerap
I suspect that the only time it would matter is when a purchaser had a choice between yours and one with an unblemished rim.
