OldCurrencyFound
Hi All! Just want to say hello and let you know that I am new to this world of coins and banknotes. I found a lot of coins and banknotes packed away in a cupboard and am now on a mission to find out if they are of any value - so your help and advice would be greatly appreciated! The first note I have is a 20 Banque Nationale Du Katanga dated 21.11.60 - anyone know if this is worth anything? Or the history of this note? I have attached some pics fyi. Look forward to hearing from you!!

Jazinta
Hello. The Katanga is very interesting. It was a country in the south of Congo (Zaire) that only was independent for +/- 2 years. It is like Biafra in Nigeria, interesting to have.

ccg
Catalogue ref. 6a. Cat values (which may or may not align with actual retail values) are $400 UNC / $175 VF. This piece looks to be G/VG if that is indeed a missing corner, as it appears to be. Lower grade specimens of scarce notes are tough to put a value on... perhaps $50?
