Guest Stujoe
I came across this link while searching for stuff for my link site: http://johnmaben.com/33440_73422.asp?submenu=1 I thought it had some pretty decent tips.
Burks
Very nice! Being somewhat "new" to grading raw coins by eye those tips were helpful.

Ætheling
I've been doing most of those already. I never use a magnifier, i don't even have one, never have. I use my naked eye to do it. (Better if i take my glasses off), i have better than perfect near vision... it's only when things move more than three foot away that i start getting problems. Is it a car, a bus a lorry or a tree? But i can read minute writing up close with no assistance. Being short sighted is a bonus in a hobby like this! I do like the idea of holding the coin with the middle finger rather than the index though in case the coin is dropped, i will have to start doing this, plus index fingers generally have more germs on them anyway from pushing all these buttons and typing and what not. Another reason why to switch to the middle.
