cvargo
Here is the listing http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350501737768#ht_2831wt_1037 I believe this is a fake because of http://www.ngccoin.com/news/viewarticle.aspx?IDArticle=954 I e-mailed the seller as well, I guess we wait and see if the listing comes down
buzkirk
I can see the square ends of the hyphen, and the space at the top of the sealed slab. So it possibly could be a fake. Tom
Art
Without having the slab in hand, I'd say it looks genuine to me. I do think the dash in the certification number appears straight rather than angled but it's very difficult to tell for sure. Not sure anyone would counterfeit a coin such as this. By the way the coin appears to match the label nicely.
Steve D'Ippolito
It's an older style NGC holder (the font is totally different, not variable width), and thus I don't think the dash is a valid diagnostic. I bought some NGC slabs before I stopped (well, paused, for something like 12 years) collecting US coins in 1996, and they look like this. I don't know when they changed styles. I was not aware that they changed there font. I am only 22 and have been collecting with my grandfather until he passed away and I inherited his collection and now I add too it, and I am always afraid that I will buy a fake because I do not have the same eye he did. Steve D'Ippolito
Indeed, you did the right thing in asking when you saw something puzzling.
