Mark Stilson
Is there a actual line from the eagles right wing up by the "G" and the "A" ? Or is that the picture or something on the slab.

And I see actual line from the right wing up by the T ( STATES ) And there are actual lines - connections at the top of ALL the letters of the word STATES
Mark Stilson
That's interesting. I'm trying to figure out what caused it. That is not the normal die clash for the wing area. If you have a coin show with pcgs some time soon in your area I would suggest having it checked by them. Or try posting a little better picture over at VAMWorld. If that is something on the die not a planchet fault or other error you may have something special.
Mark Stilson
Just to make sure I did not mistake what I think I saw. Does it look like toning or actually in the metal?

Mark Stilson
Also just to make sure I'm seeing it right. The line between the A and the T in States appears to be a scratch on the plastic correct? I don't know how that would happen, but I would definitely get it checked out. I can't remember ever seeing one like that. I see the die crack you are talking about also, so its probably a later in life die. Die cracks aren't very rare in morgans. The die clashes at the wing don't extend that far. Its normally from the Liberty's neck. And the distance to the edge would be the same as the bottom of the neck to the edge at the max. I keep looking for other die clashes on the coin, but with pictures I can't see any others. Can you see any? Personally I would go to a coin show where pcgs is set up and ask them. Figure they would be impartial looking at it. Saw your posts over at a couple other boards surprised no one noticed. Really don't get your hopes up, just in case its not special. I am by no means a true morgan specialist, just a wannabe.

Mark Stilson
Okay, lets see. On the eagles right wing there appears to be two lines. One appears to be a scratch on the plastic which is between the ST (line) ATE. Then there is another apparent line at STA (line) TE. This one extends from the wing between the "G" and the "o" of God. The up to States. It only shows up on the picture taking at a right angle. That is the one I am wondering about mainly. It does not show on the up right picture. So I am assuming its shows up there due to light angle. And may be a clash of some sorts. Does it appear to be a raised line or a depressed line? Mark Stilson
Another BTW here is a link to what I would consider a normal die clash at the right wing. It goes from the wing up to the "N" in "In God We Trust"

Mark Stilson
The one below is pretty similar to the die crack you have on your coin. See how the crack line goes from the "T" in UNITED to the STATES. Its pretty common for this to happen in Morgans. I have several with die cracks. The mint would continue to use dies for a long time even after problems turned up. Just could not figure how the line just above the one I made got in the photo. I'm always trying to get folks interested in VAMs. The easiest way to think of it is they used several dies to mint the coins. And different dies had differences in them. Some die combinations are rare and some are common. Some can be worth a fair amount more because of this. Just wondering have you started a OMNICOIN account yet. It's a really nice way to list your coins and the info on them. http://www.omnicoin.com/ akdrv AKA Anton the Administrator from this site runs it also.
