Hi,

My grandparents in a tidy up have recently found an old bank note, and I was just wondering if anyone would be able to identify it. I would be very interested in knowing where it is from/how old it is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Regards

Greg

It is post WWI France small denomination currency because of coins shortage - note appears from Treport ville in France. Most these notes are fairly common because they lost value soon. So they are interesting but not worth more than maybe 50 cents.

I wish I could, I bought some similar notes in Europe several years ago. They are not quite as common as the German Notgeld notes of 1918-23. Most if not all the references are in French, and unfortunately Russian and Spanish are all I know well outside of Engrish.

Are you looking for something specific for this particular note, or what? The only catalog I have is Les Billets des Chambres de Commerce, by Jean Pirot. It's in French, and I'd be glad to see if I can find something it you have a specific question.
