alexbq2
Here’s a peculiar eBay auction. I’m not convinced that this piece is authentic, but I’ve never seen one of these live, so I’m not sure. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=320491370355 What is strange, is that the price has been driven up by a single buyer with a very low rating. I wander if this is a real buyer or a ghost designed to drive up the price? Also, the same seller - shopcollect, has sold fake coins in the very recent past: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=320471630944
Vfox
So I may be wrong, I still contest it, but I concede to the possibility and changed this.
alexbq2
It's fake, the quality of the engraving and the difference in coloration of the fields to devices is wrong for the type of metal. It's a modern Chinese counterfeit, likely made of 30% or so silver and made with modern dies. The entire coin is crude, and the dies were obviously pitted from the electric or chemical die transfers. The coin is from that Heritage sale: http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?S...p;Lot_No=51683#
Vfox
The coin is from that Heritage sale:http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?S...p;Lot_No=51683# The only thing that could attest to this is the poor image quality of the other pictures. It may be real, but it still bothers me. I find it's exactness to the Heritage coin, including the rusted die markers to give it credit however. The quality of the images however bother me, it's difficult to tell.
KoRnholio
Unless Ebay changed something recently, I don't see why it would show the bid increments of a single person like that. The only way I can think that it would show like that, would be if there was a reserve of $4000-4500 that was just met with that most recent bid. one-kuna
because this ruble is from heritage sale - there is no guarantee that this piece is genuine, why, not because it si heritage, but it is a diffucult question and too many perfect fakes exist, i already tried to compare this one to others similar pieces and I do not like this one at all - too perfect to be real P.S. it does not make sence for me - to buy this coin at heritage and try to sell it on ebay?? too many questions arise
alexbq2
This unattractive coin from the same seller caught my attention because of it's popularity with eBay bidders: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=320491253714 Once again, the same bidder with only 17 in the feedback score is driving up the price. Vfox
Most of the coins are...a bit off... http://cgi.ebay.com/1842-RUSSIAN-ANTIQUE-S...=item4a9e3d1381 looks like a cracked open case, the slabs sides bother me. http://cgi.ebay.com/1874-ANTIQUE-RUSSIAN-G...=item4a9ef11fcc Look questionable and i seem to remember a thread about a counterfeit one of these a while back. In general it would make me nervous to bid on his items, im personally going to keep my distance. Whoever the 17 bid bidder is, he is working on anything Russian. Makes you wonder, meh.
