Prekol
Hello coin people, I have a quick question, I am looking at a slabbed 5 ruble gold piece. The slab is by ICG. I read some reviews regarding ICG, and they seemed to be good. But just wanted to see if people here had some experience with their grading, if they grade high or well. Thank you. vit986
Stay away as far as you can from those "slabs". NGC, PCGS and ANACS are the real gradng companies.
KoRnholio
Different grading companies vary in their ability and consistency when grading coins, especially of foreign coins. I don't know which companies are best for Russian coins, but I'd think NGC, they seem to do a lot more non-US coins than PCGS. For Canadian coins, I'd put ICG almost on par with ANACS from what I have seen, though neither is very good/consistent.

alexbq2
How does that old saying go? 'Buy the coin not the slab' - or something like that.
Prekol
How does that old saying go? 'Buy the coin not the slab' - or something like that. It was going to go right back for re-sale, so the slab mattered. If it was for personal collection i would consider re-grading with somebody of higher standard.
