Presumably, this is a pattern because it is missing last 2 digits of the date. IMHO, if this was struck with a pattern or an unfinished die, it would not be missing the second mint master initial. In fact that 'C' from the initial is barely visible, which suggests a weak strike or some die damage in that area.

 

Unfortunately, it looks like someone is going to waist 100 Euros on this coin.

Unfortunately, it looks like someone is going to waist 100 Euros on this coin.

As the reverse does not show a weakness opposite the missing areas of the

obverse I would suggest that either the planchet was defective or the obverse

die had sunk in the affected area.

 

It is possible, however, that the die was unfinished as suggested.
