alexbq2
Here's something new (to me): http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=370326615642 The seller claims that this is a "RUSSIA Military COUNTERMARK on Austrian Kreuzer. The Austrian Kreuzer was probably countermarked by the Russian Army in Transylvania, under the Russian Occupation in 1849." I'm not sure why the seller thinks that these countermarks are Russian since the Austrian eagle is very similar. What is the significance of 852 on the obverse of the coin? one-kuna
I can be mistakem but this kind of thing is unknown to numismatic up to now, and a seller is just speculating on rarity trying to sell high in my opinion, so I did not bid

I was puzzled by this item as well, but this is not the Russian eagle Note that there is no stick in the eagle's claw and no top crown.
