Need Help with this Jeton

I have been told that this error piece (a doublestruck brockage) is a jeton of Tsar Nicholas I.

Is that correct? (Also, might it have been issued at the time of his coronation)?

Thank you,

Bill

Wow. For that to be real, the underlying planchet would have had to stuck to the die and then this planchet was struck next, rotated and partially ejected and then restruck with the underlying piece remaining stuck to the die. For the brockage image to be so sharp, it must have been the first and second strike. If it wasn't done on purpose, then it is a fantastic error piece. Unfortunately, I don't know the Russian series to identify it, but this is a remarkable error.

Fantasy?

Well, having had it for 12 years, I guess I'd better keep it. ;)

It's about 21mm.

Thanks for your input,

Bill

you want to try to place it somewhere else like on a real russian forum to get straight answer :ninja:
