Mark Stilson
Trying to see if anyone has a idea of what this is? If it had more letters on it I may have do a letter look up. (At least if roman) (Part of a group of ancient coins I got. See cleaning my coins here. ) using electrolysis to get the dirt off them. porthos
Looks like some kind of cuneiform letters. Egyptian maybe?
Mark Stilson
I kind of thought about cuneiform also for the reverse? markings. But the ATV? gets me.
Vfox
It could be a countermarked maravedis? Some of the ones I own are basically blank other than a assayer, parts of dates, or roman numerals representing kings. I don't know if that could have been mixed into a batch of ancients or not, they are from the 1600's-1800's.
