Thee_Immortal_One
I was looking in a stack's mail bid catalog and ran accross this coin in 1996. I liked it, but was not confident I would win. I placed the bid and a few days after closing, it arrived in the mail with a few other russian gold coins. You see, there was a time when the collectors with a small "c" had a chance against the Collectors with a large "C". A time before madness.... Scottishmoney
Nice piece, and I am sure you got a good buy for the money. Sometimes even with published auctions stuff can get overlooked by bidders, it comes down to being knowledgeable and at the right place at the right time. Such coins are now beyond the reach of most collectors. There were certainly some wonderful opportunities in the 1990s. I wonder what collectors 10-12 years from now will think of today. Will 2008 look like a Golden Age for collectors in 2020?
