DRP
This coin is 30 mm. in diameter and looks like cupronickel. Reeded edge. I got rid of my old copy of Krause and Mishler since I'm exclusively a high-end Russian collector. See jpegs.
gxseries
That's very nice - it's a commemorative Japanese 500 yen coin struck in 1986 to commemorate the Emperor. Not too many were circulated as people just hoarded them. Nice find!

DRP
Any idea what the value is for something like this. I noticed it had pretty low mintage. By the way, my coworker is a Japanese American whose parents were in the internment camps during WW-II and her mom's coins and jewelry were sewn into hems of clothing and such. satootoko
Any idea what the value is for something like this.Krause values for recent Japanese coins aren't very accurate. The current Japanese Numismatic Dealers Association catalog lists it at ¥1,000 (~$9.80) in XF equivalent and ¥1,500 (~$14.70) in MS65 equivalent.
