Nows your chance to make a difference people! :ninja:

WASHINGTON - The United States Mint is seeking applicants for appointment to the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC). The terms of two CCAC members will expire in February 2008 -- one for a member representing the interests of the general public, and one for a qualified numismatic specialist. The application deadline is January 31, 2008. The United States Mint will review all applications and will forward recommendations to the Secretary of the Treasury for appointment consideration.

The CCAC was created to advise the Secretary of the Treasury on the selection of themes and design proposals for circulating coinage, commemorative coins, bullion coinage, Congressional Gold Medals and other medals. The CCAC also advises the Secretary with regard to the events, persons, or places to be commemorated by the issuance of commemorative coins, as well as the mintage levels and proposed designs of commemorative coins.

The CCAC is composed of 11 members: one specially qualified in numismatic collection curation; one specially qualified in the medallic arts or sculpture; one specially qualified in American history; one specially qualified in numismatics; three individuals representing the interests of the general public; and four individuals recommended by the Leadership of both the House of Representatives and Senate. CCAC members serve terms of four years and are Special Government Employees; therefore, they are subject to various applicable conflict of interest laws and ethics regulations.

Individuals wishing to be considered for appointment as a CCAC member representing the interests of the general public or as a numismatic specialist should submit a letter, along with a resumé or curriculum vitae, detailing specific educational credentials, skills, talents and experience. Applicants must specify which position for which they wish to be considered. Applications should be submitted by fax to 202-756-6525, or by mail to the United States Mint, 801 9th St., N.W., Washington, DC 20220, Attn: Greg Weinman. Submissions must be postmarked no later than January 31, 2008.

For further information, individuals may contact Clifford R. Northup, the United States Mint Liaison to the CCAC, at (202) 354-7463. Additional information is also available on the CCAC's website at www.ccac.gov.

Has anyone ever go to one of these, did they ever have a public hearing before? It seems like it could be both interesting and a drag. Hopefully, the former of the two since they would be purposing actual coin designs.

The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) will hold a public meeting at 9 a.m. (ET) on January 15, 2008, at United States Mint headquarters at 801 9th Street NW, Washington D.C. 20220. Do they fly you in for meetings?

i'm not sure ... i don't think so, which is just fine by me (washington dc is a big schlep from san francisco). it looks like a few meetings are face-to-face meetings and the others are teleconferences.
