RW Julian
A seller in Greece just sold one of these (today) for $620 and is now offering a second (same dies) starting at $299: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=260164496682 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=260165603739 The above two coins are different; perhaps he is buying directly from the Chinese counterfeiter. The same holds true for the 1729 rouble he is offering. (Several of the roubles also recently offered appear to be genuine, however.) He was notified some time back that he was selling fakes but ignored the message. RWJ
gxseries
Julian, what do you think about this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=190154601136 Seems like both the 1749 and 1729 rubles are heavily targeted. Not too sure why. I guess that's what the Chinese counterfeiters had access to.

grivna1726
How you know!? Genuine coins are struck with dies. This thing looks to me like it was cast, not struck.
IlyaE
There is a flood of good quality fake 1749 roubles from China on Ebay, which has been for more than a year. They used to be sold for $60, but I guess if the seller has a location in Europe, people assume it's an original and pay X10 times. This seller from Greece sold at least 10 of such roubles already.
