Scottishmoney
I found this in a drawer, under a pile of old papers etc. It apparently is a medal that the Russian American Company gave to Native Americans sort of along the lines of a peace medal. The obverse has the familiar eagle with the monogram of Aleksandr I(1801-1825). This medal has an incuse lettering on the edge "Ft. Ross Interp Assn 1981" on the edge, so it is apparently a restruck souvenir I must have gotten at Ft. Ross on the N. California coast sometime. It almost looks as though the medal was struck in brass and then silver plated.
