Mark Stilson
I just picked up a 1882 o over s morgan. As I was looking at it I noted the hair around obverse initials appears different. I looked a couple other New Orleans and did not see one similar. 1882 O/S 1883 O Anybody have a 1882 to compare? Weak Strike?
Vfox
VERY weak if that is the case. How does the rest of the coin compare detail wise?
Mark Stilson
Actually on the whole it seems good. The bottom left part of the neck seems weak, but the rest of the coin seems okay. Including the reverse top which would line up with the bottom.

Burks
I couldn't find anything about the hair in my VAM book (although it is way outdated). There was some overpolishing done around the neck area but I doubt that effected the hair. That's an odd thing though.
Mark Stilson
Its strange the hair starnds ends so abruptly. New Orleans was known for weak strikes. But it is a good possibility its due to polishing/grinding.
