Hello Everyone,

I have a 1964D Roosevelt dime which has doubling on the reverse side(photos enclosed).I have been told that it's the coin from the red book which has soom value and i been told that it is not.Being a newbie it's hard for me to determine

if it's the DDR-001,DDR-003,or neither.Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank You

Fernando

Wow, real nice coin. I'm not sure this will be any help or accurate, but here is my opinion...

It's real tough to do much more than guess without seeing the coin in hand, but that looks like a true DDR to me in contrast to some form of machine doubling (that would be worth much less) - but I certainly can be wrong.

While my 2006 Redbook lists a single 1964-D DDR, the Cherypicker's guide VII lists three of them. Here is the brief one line descriptions for each...

FS-10-1964D-801, "Doubling is evident on all reverse lettering, the top of the flame, and the tips of the leaves on higher-grade specimens."

FS-10-1964D-802, "The doubling is most evident on ONE DIME, UNITED, E PLU, and the oak stems. Lesser doubling is visible on RIBUS UNUM and AMERICA."

FS-10-1964D-803, "Moderate doubling is evident on OF AMERICA, DIME, US UNUM, and the oak leaves on the right."

Based on the pics you attached, I would say that yours may be the 803, which is the rarer of the three. In any event, my opinion is that the coin is worth have authenticated by a professional grading service. ANACS is particularly well respected for errors.

Let us know.
