gxseries
I was pretty shocked to hear from Bobh that a similar ruble like mine, except in much better condition was sold for 1,400USD in Dmitry Markov's XII Auction, lot 1100. The coin that I have is here: with the unusual edge: The catalogue can be seen here - Warning ~2Mb of file! http://www.sixbid.com/home/auctions/mmamer...terISilver1.pdf And the price list at: http://www.russian-medals.net/pics/pr-NY12.pdf Why it got sold so high is likely because of the edging 1719 "error". I got my coin really cheap because it is gilted and damaged. Question is: What do you think of this coin? Genuine coin that has been gilted, hinged and damaged? A counterfeit coin from the beginning? Note: The legends and designs are somewhat off for some reason. Perhaps someone can tell me if it's some sort of variety? grivna1726
While it is certainly possible to declare a coin a fake simply by looking at a picture, I don't believe that a competent authenticator would declare a coin genuine based only on an image. I'm no expert, but I don't see anything that leads me to believe that it is false. It just looks like a coin that has been abused.
IgorS
It is most likely real. It has been gilded and enscribed to make it look like some kind of medal. It also has a mount mark at 12 o'clock, so it was worn for sure.
