DawsonsLV
The exchange rate of Latvian Lat still remains very high. Just curious- what is the largest denomination of modern Lats banknote you have? Does anybody has Ls 500 banknote. (Nominal value about $725,-)
gxseries
A quick check on 500 Latvian lati is around 900USD under xe.com. Some examples of the banknotes can be found on Ron Wise's homepage. http://aes.iupui.edu/rwise/countries/latvia.html Although 500 lati is definately a lot, it isn't a world record of being the world current largest banknote value. If I am not wrong, Swiss had a larger value and Singapore and Burnei hold the record of 10,000 dollars, which is approximately 6,300 USD. Now that is impossible to collect Of course if you included the older US bills which isn't circulating any longer, that's definately a lot more. The Latvian lats is likely to stay around the central ERM-II rate of 0.702804; that means, 1 EUR is about 0.70 LVL. So the 500 lats note is roughly 718 euro or 909 dollars.
