  1. Nice note and SN# See323. Lot of dosh in one bill too, I wonder why there in Singapore and in Brunei there is a need for such large denomination notes, even $10K notes at least in Brunei?

Traditionally, under the Straits Settlements, Malayan and British Borneo , they already have such huge denomination notes. These notes were only used between banks and large corporations. A lot of these notes have pinholes on them as they usually pin them together with the settlement documents. I think the traditional have been carried down until today except for Malaysia ( If I remember correctly ). I think it is a useful note especially for coins and banknote dealers when they visit coin and banknote convention. Just pay on the spot cash ( I think dealers loved CASH transaction). No need to worry whether they will received a bounced cheque. :ninja:

  2. See323, I've always liked that Djibouti note, and that's a beautiful copy!

    Dave M,

Thanks. You have a remarkable French and French printed banknotes collection which include a beautiful website to showcase and enhance the beauty of the notes. I believe both Madison and you have the best collections of French / French notes on internet. Keep up the work.

As I have mentioned earlier, I used to hesistate over this Djibouti note. This note was acquired in uncirculated grade from ebay. The seller used to sell one note every week. I was waiting patiently for the 555 to appear. Interestingly, he has at least a stack of running numbers of more than 10 pieces. After I have acquired the note, I realised that it was a valuable note not because of the solid number but a scarce one.

    Enjoy your collections !!! :ninja:

  3. See323 -

Absolutely gorgeous notes! Congrats on the aquisitions. :ninja: I have a 666 note from French West Africa on the way - my first solid, even if it is only three numerals.

    Dave

You are right. Congrats on your 666. I used to hesistate when I acquire my first three digits solid 555 from Djbouti. It may not be my usual solids with 6 digits serial numbers, but I do need the varieties including French and French printed notes in my collection. I have since accepted that and also added other numbers such as 777, 888, 999. I believe most solid numbers collectors neglect collecting 3 digits solids. And also sellers do not consider them solid too. Fortunately, sellers do not charge a premium on these 3 digits solids notes. Anyway, we just collect what we like to see in our collection. If everyone collect the same style or same type of notes, our collection will end up duplicating others' collections. It's not unique anymore.

  4. OK! I just assumed as I also saw the MAS issues as your recent purchase! Maybe that is not from Mavin's either!!

Didn't mean to digress from the fact that these are great notes!

BTW, I do believe I have seen you and a few others here post on r.c.p-m in the past. Certainly I recall an exchange where I mentioned the common availability of Indian solid banknotes!!

Is alright. I believe all of us here accumulate our collection through various sources from ebay, public auctions, local and world dealers, fellow collectors etc.

Maybe you can enlighten us on the subject "common availability of Indian solid banknotes". I probably have forgotten what have been mentioned previously. :ninja:

  5. Nice Singaporean notes, Monetary Agency is new issuing authority?

This is the first note issued by MAS since her merger with the Board of Commissioners of Currency, Singapore. I bought them at the auction a few days ago. They were issued sometime back as commemoratives. Only 10,000 pieces were available for sales. Each note specially overprinted with "Commemorative First Note Issue by MAS and bearing an unique prefix "MAS".
