"as" is an denomination, like "quarter dollar" or "dime"

The pitting would had been from all the time it's spent in less than ideal soil conditions before being dug and cleaned up. Though there appears to be some flan cracks, it also appears that there's a number of scratches, so it wasn't that bad of a coin to start with. The key to the identifciation would be the obverse legend.
From the size and weight, I'm guessing this is an as, since the obverse appears to have a laureate bust.

Most likely pre-200. Do you have the size, weight, and better pictures? t looks like it should be attributable with good close-ups, and a bit of luck.
Gradewise, I'd say G-VG, though there's some serious problems/flaws. "Choice" is a generic term which has no real meaning, except in describing a certain grade of UNC.

Canada,US,UK,HK type sets. Also some Imperial German and Chinese pre-WWII

Usually most of the stuff I see and get is MS62-63ish, so nothing great really IMO, unless the market's quite different where you are.

1964 Kennedy halves, in BU condition, are selling for $15 to $35 each at local coin shops. 1964 Kennedy halves that have been run through about a 1000 slot machines are getting 4.5 times face here (melt value).
Run of the mill, nice looking coins for gifts at Christmas, etc. are commanding the standard $9.95 each price tag. So, even though you will not get rich on what your Grandmother gave you, it does have some real worth.
By BU, I'm guessing MS65+? I've sent many a UNC '64 Kennedy to the melting pot.

As a note, JPEG is intended for actual photos. Pictures which are heavy in plain colors, like most of the note designgs presented here, would be probably be best saved as GIF.
