Thanks. To my knowledge, no, none of those were printed in France.

A couple new ones for my French collection...
Gabon P3b, one of the early intaglio versions
Morocco P46

Depending on the condition, if you're looking for Unc notes, practically any higher value French note is very difficult to find. And yes, the Napoleons are tough. If you're willing to accept pinholes, or notes in XF condition, then they are much more available.

I just got the new IBNS Journal, and our own Dave L has an article in it, titled The Bad and the Good in the Long Reign of Omar Bongo over Independent Gabon. It's very well written, and short enough to keep your attention
Nice job, Dave.

That Madagascar note is really lovely.

Sometimes there's a fine line between "poor quality printing" and "error". Usually cutting errors are distinguished by a piece of the next note over appearing in the margin. So unfortunately I'd say this is a "bad cutting job" and not an error.

The signatures are Stanislas SImon, Un Administrateur, and Rene Thion de la Chaume, Le Directeur. The note is listed in Kolsky's Les Billets de la Banque de l'Indochine as #509b and is quite rare with that signature.

West African States #103, for Ivory Coast. Took me forever to find a nice copy of this note for some reason.

That's a nice Pasteur, Madison. I've always thought the "wrestling the rabid dog" on the back was a bit on the dramatic side for a banknote...

I've been enjoying picking up signature varieties recently, focusing on Comoros, French Pacific, and Central African States. Makes for some good hunting, as usually dealers aren't listing the varieties. Here's one of the less common varieties, Comoros P3 sig 2:

This one's Belarus P23

This note is Belarus P24. The Standard Catalog of World Paper Money has some good info to help identify the country (as well as of course being a whole world catalog).

Here's another that came in today, quite hard to find close to Unc. Madagascar P38.

It is a note that is a real pain in the bum to find without folds, pinholes etc. I still want that note, but either prices were too high or problems too many for me to buy. BTW I did see a real worn out 5 Peso from 1930 Uruguay - we know how rare those are.
Most definitely, the Uruguay notes are impossibly priced, and on top of that you never see one in decent condition!
The 10,000F French note is only known in 3 copies without pinholes, by the way. This isn't one of them

Here's one that's been a long time coming for me... it's pretty rare that I get a French note at all. 10,000F (old francs, of course!) Education note from 1955.

two consecutive 1000 fr. 1940
(if someone is interested in one and has another date of this note in same condition, let me know)
That's a wonderful pair of notes! Hard to find in that condition, for sure.

It's the latter of those two options. The images on my site all have my name across them, but I had given Ron the original images to use on his banknote site, and those are the ones that are on this other site.

I find it rather curious that they have a bunch of my banknotes shown, with "Scan donated by David Mills" when I have never donated a single scan to them...

Here's a new one on me... a reproduction in a TPG holder!

I agree, these are wonderful write-ups and great research!

I actually bought a replica note by accident on eBay, thinking it was a steal of a deal on a french note I needed. I guess greed got to me and I missed the (not so) fine print. I realized it moments after I hit the "buy" button, and the guy was decent enough about letting me back out of it. But I agree, these are quite annoying. I wish they were required to list them in a different section, under "art" or something.

I'm not sure this is a new effort. It doesn't have some updates that were on Ron's site even years ago. I'm thinking it's an old copy.

That is a pretty note. I'm thinking a turkey though.
