The serie consisted of 5, 7½, 10 and 15 Rouble coins. 7½ and 15 Roubles were same size as the older 5 and 10 Roubles(20 & 40 francs) and they were made in one year only, 1897, in quite large quantity though. The coins depict emperor Nicholas II and Russian imperial eagle.

2 Kopek 1801 EM
1 Kopek 1799 EM
Denga 1798 EM
These stylish but simple coins were minted in Jekaterinburg from 1797 to 1801. Other mints were Annensk (AM) and Kolyvan (KM). The letter on the coins is Pavel's monogram, a cyrillic "P".

Recent Goldberg auctions. Some of the greatest Russian coins ever offered in this auction. You can stare at it all day long... I am pretty shocked at the prices they are going at, not including the commission fees.
Initially they were on eBay as well.
Enjoy...
Wow, great coins with great prices... I could easily spend a few days with those listings
BTW: See what i just bought for 21 euros:
Love it

lol I should have googled, but yea, it seems that they had declared independence at one point before...but why call themselves the Republic of Tatarstan... Now it seems that it is a federal subject of Russia...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tatarstan
Honestly, I thought it was surprising, as Russia so far has minted large precious metal coins to important themes, or cities, as such the "protect the world species" and "300th anniversary of st petersburg". I am guessing that Tatarstan is pretty important to Russia in many ways...
There are 21 republics in Russia, for example the Karelian Republic, which is our neighbour. See:
-
(Grrr... I still can't figure out how to use the quote function Tried to quote Sir Sisu )
Yes, they are ridiciously expensive nowadays, I don't know what is causing them to explode in values within just TWO years
I'm assuming that the Russians are getting rich nowadays...
Yes, and the old russian coins are becoming very popular. We have to hurry before they get way too expensive
-
But Tatarstan is supposed to be an independent country!
Nope, it is one of the republics which form Russian Federation.

I lost all my saved addresses. I like to keep them on hand for quick sending of contest prizes, giveaways, and purchases.
So, PM me your address and I will send you a little something. I stop it when I have what I need.
There's plenty of coins/notes in the prize bag still so, whatever you get will be a surprise.
Oh and make a post in this thread so I can keep easy track of who I have please.
Thanks.
Did i get it right? Just by telling you my adress, i get something for free?

A great coin! I want one too!
The first Imperial Russian Commemorative coin ever minted in Saint Petersburg.Actually it is the third one
The earlier ones were:
5 Kopeks 1757 СПM (Struck to commemorate the introduction of new technology of producing coins out of cannon at Sestroretsk mint, extremely rare coin. It is similar to the normal EII-prjanik)
5 Roubles 1832 (Struck to commemorate the gold found at the Kolyvan mines)
-
Okay. I think it can't be anything "real". Since people often don't know russian coins too well, it is easy to make such coins and sell them for big $$.
-
I think it might be somekind of a fantasy issue. How much did you pay for it? Are you sure it is made of Gold? Does it really weigh 15,5 gramms? Where did you buy it?
