  1. Color is off and adjusting it has only made them worse this one is a nickle
  2. Yes it is due to reflection of my hands holding the phone taking the photos. You don't want to see the color corrections I tried to do as they were worse. I will have to figure something out since this is a new development. Same with some of the Mardi Gras doubloons which are natural aluminum.
  3. pretty neat, nice selection of stock pennies.
  4. Michigan State numismatic club 50th year nickle The reverses follow the obverse of the coin. Sometimes they are more interesting than the obverse The Marysville coin club always has interesting pressing.
  5. This is the correct reverse For the Southerns from yesterday
  6. So you want to do this for $90.00 since you want to have ten dollars change left. Well never going to happen. Wifey wanted a burger, fries small and sunday over the week end didn't get large size and no drinks. came to $17.00 and change. I have to second S I money, Can tell you that a minimum of a 50 ton press and still have to double strike. Unless you want to hand stamp them after running the planchette thru a rolling mill then using hand stamps to imprint designs. You can't even get a custom hand stamp made for under $100.00 There are a lot of coiners out there but they have the heavy equipment to make the gamer and fantasy tokens( commonly called coins even though they aren't) The steel to make the dies will cost more than $100.00 My rolling mill is a small one and an import and still cost over $200.00 10 years ago, My hand stamps on clearance for a dozen in the set were over $30.00. Here is the best place for fantasy coinage http://www.shirepost.com/wp/ Tom Maringer is the best guy in this business, He does use a Fly press for demo's A new import will cost close to $2,000 and old used one even more as the antiques are sought after. That is his site he can steer you in the correct irection.
  7. But I have a wooden shilling from the same bulk buy.
  8. Now for something different The words blocked out are face and value, either side of the dollar, don't have a clue as to what is blocked out on the reverse. Probably his street address.
  9. They do commemorate some strange things on the doubloons, do not know if he was famous in NOLA. I did some googling and found out this. Yes but not only the date he was gored to death, but the name of the bull that did it! I wondered if the bull was more famous. He is considered by some to be the greatest bullfighter of all time. And killed in Spain after killing 5 bulls in one day. So I guess the subject matter might be considered some what suspect, in their reasons for inclusions. The things I have learned from tokens.
  10. This is a blue anodized one, some of the colored ones have a reeded edge, and are thicker than the plain aluminum ones. I have no idea why the difference other than the colored ones ones may be presentation ones.
  11. Yes I did, and got a great deal on them. I guess I buy more of the none coin items. Than any body that comes into the shop. He always has great deals and give me good prices!
  12. Yes there is a train, and some ship ones that caught my eye, I then ended up going thru the whole bin and left him with 3 of the doubles of the more unattractive ones. Waiting to see if he gets anymore in. I do know that they aren't being ordered and thrown to the general public any more since the cost of the metal ones have skyrocketed according to a person that has a friend that is a big wheel with a krewe in NOLA.
  13. Aluminum,40mm Bronze, 40mm, nice old machine on it caught my eye. Why have the Olympics on them I don't know. As they became pointless years before. Bronze, 40mm It appears to be a nice series by the American coin club!
  14. Yep got a good assortment in one bulk buy. Not bad considering that were are a bit of a distance from NOLA. From a post on another site I believe that a hoard or NOS of a maker of the tokens was sold out or is being sold off currently.
  15. Magenta color aluminum on the 1st, gold aluminum 2nd and there is a plain aluminum one of theses that got lost in the photo shuffle, and the last one is plain aluminum.
  16. All 3 are aluminum and around 39mm, I see the oldest one is from 1958!
  17. Yes this group was a mix of mostly 1971's 1961's and 1964's Somebody must have cleaned out some storage as they seem to be popping up a lot lately.
  18. The start of bulk Mardi Gras tokens I picked up @ the LCS yesterday. Top and bottom gold anodized all of them are aluminum, 38/39mm dia
