  1. I don't know very much about these coins, (making it all the more exciting), you're probably right.
  2. Unfortunately I have already left that area, but I will certainly keep my eye out on my travels. Thanks!
  3. It's wonderful here, I certainly will give you the details
  4. We came across a tiny little antique market displayed on the ground. I saw a gigantic pile of coins, and instantly I was on the ground looking through them. I got these coins, many of them at less than face value, and the total price was the equivalent of about 2 US dollars! (I'm in Africa.) I found it funny how you could buy a US quarter for less than a dime ½ French Franc- 1965 (pre euro) 2 French Francs- 1949 (pre euro) 25 French Centimes- 1923!!! (In excellent condition, too!!) (pre euro) 1 French Franc- 1939 (pre euro) 1 French Franc- 1977 (pre euro) Spanish 1 Peseta x2 (whoops!)- Both 1975 (pre euro) Spanish 25 Pesetas- 1975 (pre euro) Lebanon 50 Piastres- 1971 Swiss 1 Franc- 1968 Spanish 5 Pesetas- 1996 (pre euro) Algerian 20 Dinar- 1975 (obsolete) Algerian 5 Dinar- 1977 (obsolete) German 50 Pfennig- 1969 (pre euro) Jordan 50 fils- 1949 China 1 something- 1997 Turkey 50 Lira- 1971 Turkey 100 lira- 2003 Syrian 10 Pounds- 1997 Netherlands 10 Cent- 1973 (absolutely teensy tiny little coin!!!) (pre euro) Tunisian 100- 1960 Libyan 50 Dirhem- 1975 Moroccan 50 Francs- 1951 Moroccan 10 Santimat- 1987 Iraq something… I’ll post this later! Algerian 50 Centimes- 1988 (obsolete) I will post pictures just as soon as I get new batteries for my camera!
  5. This was a while ago, but I'll post it anyway. I waited for the person in front of me to finish using the coin machine, and when they walked off, I looked in the reject tray. This is what I found: 1979 Italian Lire- uncirculated! (pre-Euro) Belgian 5 Franc (pre-Euro) 6 or 7 euro cents (ranging from one cent to five cents) Costa Rica- 10 cent An Egyptian coin 2 50 pence British and about 5 1 penny pieces A Mexican dollar 1 Canadian cent, 2 nickels, 3-4 dimes, 3 quarters, and a 2 dollar coin Quite a few regular USA pennies, dimes and quarters I had to stick my hand waaaay up the machine to get all that out!
  6. Thanks very much, and best of luck to you both!
  7. I completely agree! Sometimes when I've got nothing better to do I read blogs about people who have found massive hoards of old coins, etc.
  8. That's a great goal, I like focused collections like that
  9. Find 100 Wheat pennies in circulation (I'm close) Find my first Buffalo in a roll Find my first Mercury in a roll Organize my foreign coins
  10. I agree on the sharp detail and toning.
  11. I saw those at my visit to the Philly mint, they are really quite amazing.
  12. What the heck happened to this penny?!
  13. Today was good! I got 5 penny rolls, yielding one wheat (1947) and two Canadians (one was an ender!) Two nickel rolls got me a 1941 and a 1954. Nothing in 3 dime rolls, nothing in my quarter roll. The lovely teller spent ages looking for rolls with old looking coins on the end, and then she handed me a popsicle (it was boiling today, as everyone knows.) What a lovely teller. J
  14. I think my good luck may have returned (I seem to have much better luck with CWR) I was really near the bank, so I thought, what the heck. I'll go get a dollar's worth of penny rolls (2 rolls.) I was feeling lucky. It seems that I really was lucky. In each roll I found two wheat pennies, one of which filled in a spot in my Whitman folder. My good luck is back!
  15. 9 penny rolls: 100% 2013 2 nickel rolls: 1946 2 dime rolls: nothing 1 quarter roll: nothing Where the heck did my good luck go?!
  16. Wow... I am in awe. I don't think this emoticon does it justice. You'll have to add in about 100 more 'woot jumps'
