1818... Incredible.
I wonder how far back we can go with banknotes.
Perhaps we should start a thread! I can cover notes from 2011 to 1795.

A picture would be good to see what it's about.

The only problem with eliminating the 5c outright is that it doesn't go well in a system where the 1/4 and 1/10 units are entrenched.
NZ could do it because they were on a true decimal system rather than the quasi-decimal system that we got.
The 2 reales strikes again.
we could simply introduce a coin worth an 8th or a 1/16th of a cent. Venezuela has a 12 1/2 centimos coin circulating currently.

Drake may have visited BC in Canada, since they have found 16th century coins buried in the mud along the shore.

Pachinko arcade/machine token. See: http://www.12ozprophet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=116738. Hopefully that thread can help.
An apparently, Japanese are descended from Jews somehow

I have a lot of nickelses and dimeses. I have 1933, 1942 tombac, 1951 sudbury nickel, 1947ml, but sadly only one example of those. I have 1958 but I have to find it.

No idea, sorry. I was going to get the 2011 set at the US mint but the guy there told me to get the 2010 set because it had Lincoln and in the future more valuable.
-
If the mint can find cheaper metals for the small coins it's ok, like aluminum, breass etc, but the larger coins are fine in copper-nickel.
-
Yes, its beautiful. And also good condition.

Received a UAE One Dirham coin in change at, IIRC Chick-fil-a in Houston last week. Cashier did not seem to notice but I saw it instantly even though it is very, similar to a quarter. I, of course, did not say anything since I always like to pick up some "goodies". Not super exciting but it has been a dry spell recently save for a lot of US FRN Star notes of all denoms but every single one was extremely used.
here's to a better March!
Sadly I don't get anything interesting, only new coins.

Very nice finds.
Thanks!

Don't see the large sized coins for spoons often, that's for sure!
So have you seen coin spoons? Where? I not nothing about those but I would like to.
-
5 Mark Germany, 1975. It's the proof I think.

It's artisanal and from the south of Colombia (maybe Ecuador).
-
They're pretty neat. Are all the quarters normal circulating coins?
Yes, all of the eight, and the two dollar coin.
-
Can you show us some pics of these? They sound very interesting.
These are the coins.
There is also a $1 coin, $4 set, $10 coin.
-
I only pick up and keep what I can find from circulation. Haven't bought from RCM in years.
Ok. I used to buy before but not much now.
-
Of all that I have seen in circulation I have yet to get one of the 2012 colourised examples in change.
Ok, that's good. There is also a $4 silver coins, but I didn't get those. And do you have the $2 coin with the boat?
-
Same here!
The RCM released a series for the War of 1812 anniversary with important Canadian figures. 4 of the coins have the colored leaf and 4 have a prooflike picture.
-
A Laura Secord quarter, 2013. It's the only of the series that I needed.

The CFA Franc is equal to the the old 1960 Francs (only France changed from 100 old to 1 new) so today the CFA franc is fixed to the euro.
-
Thanks! Sadly I didn't find in better condition, but it's at least good
-
I like the size of this banknote, oldest african banknotes are awesome.
Nice add Jazinta
Me too! I like money that is big and especially when all the series is different sizes.
How far back can we go?

Let's see how far back we can go with it.
Rules: must be a banknote, notgeld, promissory note or paper currency and must have a date, either issue, series or in the serial number. I don't have 2013 (do 2014s exist yet?), so feel free anybody to post one.
