we still get the mid 30's to high 40's at night , in the day it is high 50's to mid 70's

high doubt it is as those are very well known to be faked but just in case take it to a coin shop or send it into a grading company for them to look over

they say the snow chances are over but this is Texas after all so who knows

IMHO looks to be post mint damage, i could be wrong though

i have seen many collectors get scammed by legit looking errors that were made to trick people, and every once in awhile one does find a legit error in their change or whatever

but buying errors online or from others is a gambling game you never know what you may or may not get, so my best advice is to research the coin and see what types of errors are known to the coin world and go from there

coins, banknotes, tokens all have a margin for errors happening as there are millions minted and printed each day so the margin of errors happens increase with each time high tech has not cut down on that margin of errors very much

yeah one can find minor to major errors in coins and banknotes but the bad thing is sometimes these errors are made on purpose by workers looking for extra money or whatever, plus if made illegally there are many legal issues to deal with

so finding errors can be a guessing game as to was it a mistake or done on prupose

supply and demand is the issue there is no real demand for Australian Banknotes so most banks will not carry them as there is really no demand for those notes here in the US

looks to be a minor die crack though the letters and that is all i'm seeing

well seems there is a small die chip in the mintmark

you would need to look for strong doubling in the words IN GOD WE TRUST for large date

and for small date look for strong doubling in the words UNTIED STATES OF AMERICA , E PLURIBUS UNAM and ONE CENT

that is the only way to tell

you have what is called a post mint damaged coin, either it is well worn or someone coated it with something after it left the mint

a photo would help in seeing what you are talking about but it sounds like someone coated with mercury or something

really is not much difference in silver dollars and peace as they are both silver dollars just what year they were made tends to be the difference  

good idea ordering a coin book ,coin books are a good research tool to use when one needs to sort out valuable and not so valuable coins

 from what i can tell from the photos it's a 2001 New York state quarter quarter, looks well used and that is all , as the photos are not showing anything beyond what the naked eye can see
