I retired this 66 year old Jefferson today.
Early date Jeff's wear gracefully, in my opinion.
-
All recently from your cash drawers?! wow.
-
This '91 is an impressively ornate and well-coined piece compared to the later pieces above it.
-
Heh... look at the bush one.
-
Yeah. Ive seen a few of those but keep it for its good looks and its filler spot.

Welcome to CP. Could you post a pic?
Thanks!

All eye-poppers. The foreign notes makes me impatient for the next Popular Banknote Idol.

Your not going to believe what my daughter pulled out of one of the machines at chuckEcheese today.
I'll post it as soon as I can get a pic.
You're right. I don't believe it. You have a daughter.

How do you suggest that "Surface conductivity" be measured?
I've got access to equipment that can measure the conductivity of the plating on the surface. It doesn't penetrate the material too far.
Also if you want to get really nutty, electron microscopy can easily determine the surface's composition.
Of course, it's all a bit overkill don't you think?
-
Hmm interesting possibility - I wonder if there is a way to definitively tell if that is the case with this coin.
Surface conductivity measurements anyone?

All gorgeous. I wish I could see them in hand. Care to send them this way???

The wear pattern really makes the writing stand out well on that one.
-
Yeah. that post must not have been loaded when I asked the Q.

No difference between this and issued design. Only one known.

That last example either became a pocket piece or circulated or a bit of both.
One of two known examples of this variety. This piece went for $52,900 in mid-2004.

All pics from Heritage Auction archives. All information from Heritage Auctions and Dr. J. Hewitt Judd's "United States Pattern, Experimental and Trial Pieces" - 1959 edition.
I will do my best to add additional information and varieties but given my resources, this is the best I can do. I'm using this series and others to build my pattern collecting knowledge. One day I'll have these coins and other magnificent alternative designs.

Here is a good discussion for everyone:
You see a coin or note that someone donated towards a charity or for a fundraiser. You don't have any change or cash on you to replace it with. You really really wanna have it. What do your morals tell you to do?
